Commercial Concrete Estimator
Posted November 6, 2026Own every bid from invite to award and work directly with the owners. We're an owner-run commercial concrete contractor growing past what one person can bid, and we're hiring the person who takes estimating over.
You'll be our estimator, not one of fifty
At the big national concrete companies, an estimator is one desk in a preconstruction department. You run takeoffs for a senior estimator, your numbers go up a chain, and you may never meet the people who pour what you priced.
That's not this job.
Parsons & Prows is an owner-run commercial concrete contractor in Hamilton, Ohio. We self-perform foundations, slabs, site concrete and tilt-up for general contractors across Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Northern Kentucky and Indianapolis. Our CEO has been our chief estimator, and we're growing past what one person can bid. We're hiring the person who takes it over.
You'll work directly with the owners on every bid. You'll know our foremen by name and walk the jobs you priced. When we win, you'll see the actual costs come back against your estimate.
What you'll do
- Own the bid from invite to award. Review plans, specs and addenda; do the takeoff; build the estimate; write the proposal; follow up with the GC.
- Price our work the way we build it. Footings, pads, foundation walls, slabs-on-grade, site paving, curbs and tilt-up, priced by crew days and production rates that come from our own crews.
- Buy it right. Get and compare quotes from ready-mix, stone, rebar, forming and subcontractors, with at least two quotes on every scope.
- Protect the company in the proposal. Clarifications, exclusions, RFIs, payment terms and change-order pricing.
- Hand it off clean. When we win, walk the team through the job: pour schedule, submittals, material orders and the job budget.
- Close the loop. Compare estimated vs. actual costs on every finished job and review every lost bid, so the next number is sharper.
- Be the face of P&P on bid day. Build relationships with the GC estimators and PMs who call us first.
How we'll measure success
We tell you up front what good looks like:
| Measure | Target |
|---|---|
| Bid turnaround | 1–2 business days on standard bids |
| Hit rate | 20%, working to 25% |
| Quote coverage | 2+ qualified quotes per scope |
| Job reviews | Every lost bid and every finished job, within 30 days |
| Accuracy | Finished jobs land on the estimate |
What you bring
Must have
- 3+ years estimating commercial concrete, or field or PM experience with real estimating behind it
- Strong plan and spec reading (structural, civil/site and architectural)
- You know how concrete actually gets built: crew sizes, production rates, pump vs. chute, cold weather
- Digital takeoff experience (Bluebeam Revu preferred) and strong Excel
- You're clear on the phone and in writing with GCs
- You stay organized with several bids due the same week
- Valid driver's license; you'll be on job sites in our territory
Even better
- Time in the field as a finisher, carpenter or foreman
- Tilt-up, industrial slab or prevailing-wage estimating
- BuildingConnected and job-cost software (ComputerEase or similar)
- ACI certification or a construction management degree
- GC relationships in Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus or Indianapolis
No degree? No problem. If you can read a set of prints and price concrete like you've built it, we want to talk.
